Myofascial cupping or ‘cupping’ is a form of myofascial release, which aims to restore optimum function to soft tissues. Cupping uses negative pressure, or decompression techniques to stretch, lift, and separate the connective tissue (fascia) and muscle tissue. This is different to most other forms of myofascial release like massage, as they involve compression of these tissues to reduce tension and lengthen muscle fibres rather than decompression.
